Windows Skydrive Info

Windows Live Folders [SkyDrive] Review
Update: Soon after we published this review, Microsoft announced that the beta was being opened to the public at large and the service was being renamed to "Windows Live SkyDrive." Microsoft also announced several minor improvements, but the service largely looks and works the same as described below. Tweaks include drag-and-drop uploading, thumbnails view, sequential previews, and a view of recently visited folders from other users.

Part of the company's innovative and interactive—and yes, very Web 2.0—Live series, the Windows Live Folders is secure file storage that offers shared folders. And like a lot of the Live services, it's still in beta, in this case early beta; its developers say the final product may look quite different. The service also lets you make files available to the public at large. As a true Web 2.0 app, it works entirely in the browser—and it works as well in Firefox as in Internet Explorer. At present, you get 500MB of free storage with it, and it always displays how much you have left at the top of the window. The maximum file size you can upload right now is 50MB.
